About Elisso Bolkvadze

Pianist Elisso Bolkvadze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia and performed her first concert with an orchestra at the age of seven. 

She studied at Tbilisi conservatory and later continued working with Professor and composer, Michel Sogny, who became an important influence on her artistic development. Soon after she became laureate of “Fondation SOS Talents”- Michel Sogny.

Elisso Bolkvadze won numerous international piano competitions such as Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (USA), Vianna da Motta International Music Competition (Lisbon), Dublin International Piano Competition (Dublin), Marguerite Long Competition (Paris) and Bach Competition (Leipzig).

Elisso Bolkvadze has won great critical acclaim for her unique sensibility, power and sincerity. She recorded the Tchaïkovski, Rachmaninov, Saint-Saëns and Liszt concerto for Sony label.

Her latest released album is “Prokofiev, Schubert” with label Audite which gained her the title of “Pianist Maestro”.

Elisso Bolkvadze is regularly invited to play with international orchestras such as Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Orchestre National de France, Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian National Orchestra, Houston Symphony Orchestra, Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra.

She played in prestigious concert venues throughout Europe and the United States, among them Kennedy Center (Washington D.C.), The Ambassador Auditorium (Pasadena CA), Chicago Concert Hal (IL),  Salle Pleyel, Salle Gaveau and Théâtre des Champs Elysées (Paris), Gewandhaus (Leipzig), Herkulessaal (Munich) Alte Oper  (Frankfurt), Konzerthaus (Berlin), Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Hall (Russia), Shanghai Concert Hall,Chopin Festiva (Warsaw) and  Bagatelle Paris, Ravello Festival (Italy) and many more.

A superstar in her home country, she received one of the most prestigious national honors - “The Medal of Honor” from Georgian Government.

As an artist actively engaged in cultural and human rights actions, Elisso Bolkvadze gave several charity concerts in Georgia, as well as in USA and Switzerland, Victoria Hall.

She participated recently with Angelina Jolie in a conference organized by Sergio Vieira De Mello Foundation, in United Nations General Assembly Hall, Geneva.

In 2013 she founded her own charity foundation “Lyra” which supports talented young Georgian Childrens and also become  Artistic Director of Batumi  International Music Festival in Georgia.

For her outstanding contribution to the development of culture and personal commitment to cultural exchanges between France and Georgia, Elisso Bolkvadze received the distinction of Chevalier des Arts et Lettres by French Republic and become Unesco Artist for Peace in 2015.
